Confetti — Designer’s Ball (2019)

For their yearly Designer’s Ball event, DESIGNxRI asked Tellart to install something lightweight, cool, and interactive. Louis Kishfy and I approached this as a fun art project that could simultaneously serve as an opportunity to concept some simple gestural interactions using a Leap Motion. The aim of the piece was to discover what types of gestures were most intuitive and then use those to drive the experience.

Confetti is an interactive particle system that designed and installed for DESIGNxRI's Designer's Ball II: SURREAL. As a prototype, it explores intuitiveness in some simple hand-gesture controls. I created Confetti with the help of Louis Kishfy (louiskishfy.com) while working at Tellart (tellart.com). The system comprises of a Leap Motion sensor, a Mac Mini running a custom openFrameworks (C++) app, and a projector. The song is Business As Usual (Guggenz).
