.presence: Public Installation (2017)
Something I truly believe is that a well-designed experience is one that breaks your daily rhythm. Good design should surprise you in a way that makes you think, "wow, I might understand this, but I never thought it was possible."
Syncopation is really interesting to me in how it's a flirtation with the dangers of falling out of line, out of normal, expected behavior. As I keep developing in my techniques and modes of thinking, I hope to implement off-beats in even stronger ways.
.presence is an exploration in materializing hidden data contained within the human body. The public piece was installed on a brick wall next to the RISD Museum in downtown Providence, RI. The system consists of a Mircosoft Kinect, a computer running Processing code that I wrote using OpenNI, and a projector. Song: forever (imari). Created January 2017
